Architecture + Art
The dialogue already begins at a very early stage. Often, the first designs or customer sketches form the basis for the joint development process.
In the next step, we formulate a concrete requirement profile. The corresponding structure is created on modern CAD workstations, including the required FEM calculations and simulations.
We remain in close dialogue with our customers during the entire development phase. This is how we find functional solutions whilst looking for cost-effective and efficient production.
Apart from the appropriate construction, the selection of the correct material obviously plays a significant role also. The functional aspect is just as important as aesthetic demands on the feel and look of the surfaces.
Material selection and model construction
After construction, small models are usually produced first for further adjustment. Depending on the size of the subsequent construction, we then produce white models in intermediate sizes. In this way, all the important factors can be checked and optimised in the process, so that subsequent assembly can be carried out safely.

A metal artefact in the Hugendubel flagship store
The reopening of the flagship store at Munich’s Marienplatz was of central importance for Hugendubel – Germany’s largest owner-managed book company: in close interaction with online trading, the shopping experience in the store was staged with confidence, and a modern, sophisticated ambience was created.
Centrepiece of the store enactment was the metal wall realised by Batz + Burgel, which connects all floors.
As metal artefact with sculptural character, the metal wall expresses the high standards, which connects Hugendubel with the flagship store. Batz + Burgel achieved this.
In close cooperation with the architects and craftsmen, our experts brought their many years of project experience and comprehensive metal expertise into every stage – from the joint development processes to calculations and simulations to construction.
